He has been successfully focusing on private and semi-private instruction of advanced drivers. NARRA has the perfect format that allows the best aspects of the training to be applied.
Neil spent 7 years working for Carroll Shelby, developing all of the Dodge/Shelby products throughout the 1980’s. Then he went to Detroit and worked as a Development Engineer on the original Dodge Viper (launched in 1992) and the Viper GTS (launched in 1996). He then was the Program Manager of the Viper GTS/R program which resulted in many LeMans wins and Racing Championships. Neil left Dodge in 1999 and went to Saleen as the Chief Engineer of the Saleen S7 and then on to Ford to be the Chief Engineer of the Ford GT. After completing the Ford GT project he went to England as the Engineering Director of McLaren Automotive. Neil has won numerous National Championships at the professional level. 3 time Champion in the SCCA World Challenge, all driving the Eagle Talon for the Archer Brothers Race Team. He also won the SCCA Endurance series in 1985 driving for Team Shelby. Neil also specialized in endurance racing and drove in the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, many times. Neil was also the first driver to race a Dodge Viper in SCCA Speed GT as he co-founded the ViperSpeed team and developed the Viper for that series, first racing in 1998.
NARRA is honored to be able to offer Neil’s expertise and experience to our customers. As the driver of the "007" car, Steve Loudin says. "if you have the desire to go faster and safer then you cannot miss out on having Neil Hannemann as a private instructor. IT WORKS".
Neil was a GMI grad (BSME), and started early in his career at GM. There, he assembled and directed an engineering team responsible for the aerodynamic development of NASCAR Winston Cup cars, including the design and manufacture of stamped steel racecar body panels, composite front and rear fascias, and Lexan windshields. From there, he did a stint in a crash sled lab and went on to spend many years with DaimlerChrysler, where he focused on hard-core product development in chassis, suspensions, powertrain, and body structures. During his time there, Neil also held the Viper and NASCAR program manager posts. He then went to work at Saleen, where he managed the development of the S7, a limited-production, 200mph American Supercar. Next, Ford Motor Company hired Hannemann to run its supercar GT program. Upon completion of the GT, Neil moved on to McLaren Automotive—another household name in the niche car industry—overseeing all aspects of engineering and technical integrity for products, including a new mid-engine sports car for Mercedes-Benz.
